When preparing your email, you will be able to use several merge tags in any text component in the email.
Using Personalization Merge Tags In Texts And Headings
Once you drop a text block, you will find a dedicated toolbar at the top.
Place the cursor on where you want to place a merge tag, and then click on Personalization to find all available types of merge tags.
Choose the type of merge tag you want to insert and it will expand to let you choose which specific data you want to insert using merge tags.
Here, choose the data you want to view in your email and its merge tag code will appear in the text box.
Here, I have used the merge tag to view the contact’s first name. Now, when the email will be sent, the contact’s name will appear in place of this merge tag dynamically.
Using Merge Tags To Place Links On Texts
Certain merge tags are used to place links in certain texts. These includes the following:
- Links merge tags
- Subscribe Link – {{link.subscribe}}
- Unsubscribe Link – {{link.unsubscribe}}
- Preference Link – {{link.preference}}
- Website merge tags
- URL – {{site.url}}
- URL merge tags
- Home URL – {{url.home}}
- Shop URL – {{url.shop}}
- My Account URL – {{url.my_account}}
- Checkout URL – {{url.checkout}}
- Reset Password URL – {{url.reset_password}}
- Payment URL – {{url.payment}}
To place these merge tags as linked text URLS, first place your cursor beside the text and then click on the Personalization on the toolbar. There, choose the merge tag you want to place and it will appear beside the text and also be copied to the clipboard.
Now, remove the merge tag from there. Highlight the text you want to place the link on and click on the “link” icon on the toolbar.
Paste the merge tag in the link field and click on apply. You will notice the text will be linked.
You usually define these pages in WordPress and WooCommerce and can change them anytime. Using merge tags for these will mean even if you change these links, your contacts will receive the right links.
